An Impressionist painter of intimate marine landscapes, timeless still life’s and gardens, and genteel figurative paintings. Jennifer Ann Zucco, daughter of Kitty and Ray Zucco, was a gifted artist, designer, florist and gardener. As a lifelong resident of the Connecticut coast, Jennifer’s marine paintings were created from an innate sensitivity to the characteristics of the New England coastline; its harbors, boats, and hidden coves; its unique beaches and islands and the special breed of people who live and work on the Atlantic seacoast. As a long time professional garden designer her enchanted still lifes and garden paintings were a reflection of her deep knowledge and passionate interest in the subtleties of flowers and fruits of our gardens.
Carl David, owner of the David David Gallery located in Philadelphia Pennsylvania, writes of Jennifer as a “painter whose work transcends time and took us back to the turn of the 20th century when there was a mood of gentle and carefree spirit. With the subtlety of John Singer Sargent, Mary Cassatt, and others, her paintings expertly reflected the quietude and elegance of the era. Her landscapes, seascapes, architectural renditions, still life works and figurative paintings are equally wonderful portraits of her vision.” The David David Gallery, renowned for its collection of American impressionist art, was the sole representative of Jennifer’s work.
Jennifer’s paintings, portraits and accomplishments were universally recognized. From an early age, she embarked on an educational journey with great passion to learn all there was to learn about the many facets of art. After graduating from New Canaan High School, Jennifer earned a bachelor degree of fine arts from Manhattanville College. The learning process never ended for Jennifer and private seminars continued to inspire her creative growth even as she mastered drawing, pastels and oils. White Swan Fine Art was Jennifer’s working studio. Situated in the charming seaside village of Rowayton, Connecticut, its picturesque location on both the Long Island Sound and the Five Mile River made it a perfect location for Jennifer’s studio. Three intimate, salon-style rooms made up the studio. An "Open Door” policy gave collectors access to meet Jennifer and preview this Connecticut Impressionist painter’s most recent studio paintings, drawings, and commissions.
Jennifer’s remarkable life and vibrant portfolio of artwork came to an end in August of 2006 after a battle with breast cancer. It is the goal of the Zucco Fine Art Gallery to record as many of Jennifer’s works of art to ensure her legacy as an artist and to allow those of us who value the insight of an artist’s hand and imagination the opportunity to share in Jennifer’s unique talents and vision.
